Michele's Background

Michele Benjamin has worked in education since 1997.  As a certified teacher in New York, Texas, and Kansas, Michele has taught across all levels, from K-12 education to college-level science courses at Park University. In 2001, Michele was recognized as Teacher of the Year at West Ridge Middle School in       Austin, TX.

​

Her years in the classroom shaped her belief that every student can thrive when supported by structure, encouragement, and individualized guidance, inspiring the development of Laser Focus Tutoring & Consulting in 2020.

​

Since then, Michele has helped hundreds of students excel in their middle and high school coursework, reach their target ACT and SAT scores, and successfully navigate the college admissions process.

​

As a member of HECA (Higher Education Consultants Association), GPACAC, and a certificate from UC Irvine in Independent Educational Consulting, Michele adheres to the highest possible standards in educational consulting, staying updated on the latest trends and best practices in college admissions.

Every student has a story worth telling and a school where they will truly thrive. The LaserFocus mission is to help families find that school by uncovering what makes each student genuinely different, building a clear plan, and walking with them all the way through decision day. 

The Why

Everyone in education has heard this phrase before: "Remember your why." I didn't plan to become a college consultant. I planned to be a teacher. But my why never changed. I get to help students realize they are more capable than they think they are, and I get to change lives for the better. That's my why. And after nearly 30 years in education, working with hundreds of students, I still get off the phone with a parent and think: I cannot believe I get to do this.
